FERC staff concluded that the environmental impact of the project could be kept to less than significant levels, providing the pipeline’s construction and operation complies with relevant laws and regulations, as well as additional measures recommended by FERC in the EIS.

TransCanada subsidiary Bison Pipeline has proposed the project, which includes approximately 486 km of 30 inch diameter natural gas transmission pipeline extending northeast from Wyoming, through Montana to North Dakota. TransCanada has also proposed a new compressor station at Hettinger County, North Dakota.

The pipeline is designed to have a capacity of approximately 477 MMcf/d of gas.
