The two-day conference saw international delegates coming from Brazil, Russia, Canada, the Netherlands and Mexico to further their knowledge on the repair and rehabilitation of pipelines. The in-depth conference programme allowed delegates to hear about the latest in coating, rehabilitation waterjetting and reinforcement for oil and gas pipelines among other topics.

The exhibition showcased some of the leading technologies in the industry from companies such as:

  • Allan Edwards
  • Incal Pipeline Rehabilitation
  • Mears Group
  • NDT
  • Pipestream
  • Polyguard Products
  • Priority Energy Services
  • Quest Integrity
  • Pipe Line Development Company.

Both exhibitors and delegates were able to network and catch up with old friends and colleagues at the reception.

Up-skilling

Prior to the conference programme Clarion held a two-day training course.

Performing pipelines rehabilitation was run by Sid Taylor from Incal Pipeline Rehabilitation. This course focused on the practical aspects of pipeline rehabilitation and covered both internal and external rehabilitation. The course also went in-depth on how to safely rehabilitate operating pipelines using manual and automated equipment.

Pipeline repair and in-service welding, run by Bill Bruce from DNV, discussed aspects of pipeline repair using weld and non-weld methods, as well as the concerns for welding onto in-service pipelines and the approaches used to address them. Dr Chris Alexander, a Principal at Stress Engineering Services also was a lecturer on the course.

Organiser BJ Lowe said “We are very pleased to bring the ERRP conference to Houston for the first time, following its success in Berlin in October 2010. It’s a counter point to our annual Pipeline Pigging and Integrity Management Conference and Exhibition, which covers inspection activities, while ERRP addresses pipeline refurbishment, repair, re-coating and re-construction efforts that may have been called for as a result of the inspections.”
